The Land Of The Beautiful And Poised

“London has the trick of making its past, its long indelible past, always a part of its present. and for that reason it will always have meaning for the future, because of all it can teach about disaster, survival, and redemption. It is all there in the streets. It is all there in the books.”

#2 One Key Item For Fall 2013

Being a student at FIT I am very blessed to have access to sights such as Women's Wear Daily, WGSN, and Style Sight. These are amazing tools to have being in the fashion industry. I can't even say how many times I have used them for various projects that I have done at school. I'm happy to say I have used them once again. This time I did some research for key items for Fall 2013. In the fashion industry we think a year in advance. I saw some interesting things while looking through the trend websites. I really hope that some of these things don't become a major staple in our Fall wardrobe. I just don't think anybody would look good in sparkle leggings and cocoon coats. I did come across one item though that I think will be a key item for everyone in Fall 2013.

The Cape
A cape for fall is the perfect mix to incorporate high fashion and dressing for the weather in any fashionista's wardrobe.

There are some capes out now in Fall 2012, but not as many as there will be a year from now.

To me, capes are something that have always been part of the haute couture customer. I believe that next fall when we are walking down the streets of New York City we will be seeing most women taking part in the cape trend.

Until next time

#1 Fashion Blogs I Love

Blogs have become a big part of social media throughout the past couple years. Before I came to NYC I read as many fashion blogs as I could. I did everything I could to learn anything about the fashion industry. There are so many blogs about fashion around, but these are a few of my favorites.

What Courtney Wore
http://thecourtneykerr.com/
Courtney Kerr is a fashion blogger from my home town of Dallas, Texas. I love to read her blog because I am able to get a taste of the sweet southern belle style that I don't get to experience in New York City. My style is a lot like hers, so I love to go to her blog for inspiration.

Ring My Bell

Ashley Madekwe is the fashionista behind this blog. She stars on the hit television show Revenge, but what attracts me to her blog is that she is from London, England. I'm obsessed with all things British, so I'm fascinated to see her London street style. She has a girly-girl style with a little grunge thrown in. I think it is the perfect mix.

The Sartorialist

Who could not love this blog? I'm inspired by each picture Scott Schuman puts on his blog. He captures the moment that I believe the wearer is trying to portray with their outfit. This was one of the first fashion blogs that I began to read. It inspired me to travel the world and draw inspiration from each culture.

I believe fashion blogs are a very important part of our industry today. I encourage you all to find a blog that you love and become inspired.
